Paavan Sanstha is a registered NGO that has served the Amritsar community for years. Paavan Rasoi, its daily meal kitchen, opened on August 3, 2021, and has run ever since — 100 meals a day, six days a week.
Each ₹10 meal reaches cart pullers, casual and factory labourers, and rickshaw drivers — people doing hard physical work who cannot otherwise afford a square meal.
Each meal includes parshaadas, rice, and a sabzi or daal — and, as the day's benefactors wish, sometimes curd, lassi, kheer, or bananas too.
Over five years, the cost of running this kitchen has risen substantially. The price of a meal hasn't. It is, and remains, ₹10.
